Seriously, no one is going to police your game. They can write whatever the hell they want, but it doesn't mean you have to follow that like some slave. Just make it clear to your group where it is you'll be differing from "canon".
Hell, this isn't new, look at the shitshow that happened with White Wolf way back when, because of Garou being based on pretty much every myth and cultural stereotype in the world .. not to mention those who wanted to give the Children of Gaia sexual habits more fitting for the Black Spiral Dancers, due to misunderstanding of the name, and trying to impose modern sexual mores on a group that would, by necessity, be a little more old fashioned in its views. (Frankly, they should have settled the whole Gypsy thing by simply saying that Roma are real people, and Gypsies are mythical creatures. They wouldn't be the first people in the old World of Darkness to be confused for their supernatural counterparts.)
Oh don't worry I know, Honestly I don't think I ever found a group that hated characters that had preferred targets especially if the race clash makes sense [Kobold/Gnome], Usually DM's and party members are more than accepting of character flaws strange ideologies and irrational hates/fears that can lead to interesting scenarios and stories down the line.
I more made the comment as a joke of how many woke suggestions and ideas would directly benefit or align with actual racists beliefs or suggestions.
Also yeah that White Wolf stuff is a complete circus by this point from what I've heard.
Yeah exactly, in games I played, if my character had an irrational hatred of gnomes, the DM would throw gratuitous gnomes into the game for everyone's amusement
I particularly enjoyed the one campaign where I played a Halfling Barbarian who was racist against all the tall people. There was a lot of fun to explore with that character.
