KF is fortunate that it has such a public, transparent owner. We know Josh like he's a family friend. We help him whenever we can, particularly from a financial standpoint. But all the money in the world will not help if the Farms cannot be protected from outside attacks. And if Josh cannot get this sorted out, then the era of the free internet is 100% over. Nothing Elon or anyone else does beyond that point matters. Because we will have reached a hard limit for free speech on the internet.
In comparison, we don't even know who runs this place. u/C hasn't been online for over a year and when he was, he often made self-sabotaging decisions against the best wishes of the userbase. u/Perun hasn't been online in 3 months, and the only remaining powermod out there, u/Paleo, seems to be the only one who has a grasp on what he's doing.
If KF moved here, and we got a few thousand more users to the party, we would immediately become the next target. And I'm not saying this in a speculative manner. I'm saying this from a position of knowledge. If KF comes here, this website will fold from a "normal" DDOS attack, let alone the special autistic orbital cannon blasts KF routinely suffers from.
Because no other website on the internet has as bespoke and robust an infrastructure as KF does. The lack of a T1 ISP/DDOS mitigation service is its only remaining vulnerability. But it's a critical vulnerability.
