If you stop being invited to premieres, your articles will get way less traffic and you will become less relevant as a reviewer simply due to momentum. Even the economist publishing an honest review is probably some form of contrarian payback. Maybe they didn't feel treated well enough considering the prestige of the publication or didn't get a private audience with Nolan. It's always been a shitshow, we just didn't know about it 20 years ago.
