Websites like Mastodon, diaspora or Lemmy are all extremely leftist. Same with group chats like Element. Yet these websites and apps were all created with anonymity and security in mind. Is it all a front for pedophilia? Somehow, I doubt it.
I actually think leftists are so delusional they think promoting woke values is somehow something they need to take precautions over despite the only people getting arrested by governments are right-wingers.
That is ofc unless the leftists are plotting assassinations of presidents like Trump or school shootings...
Kinda crazy. I also find it crazy that right-wingers take virtually no precautions online.
I've looked into all that federated stuff and what not, but honestly if I were going to do some sort of online community of my own it would probably be something as simple as phpBB hosted in Russia and paid for in crypto and I'd massively gate keep it. If it's my forum, I am the king. End of discussion. Maybe I'm a benevolent dictator, but I'm still the ruler. Somehow that all worked better. You kicked someone from a game server because they were unenjoyable to play with. That was it. The king does not want you here. It never had to come to "oooo he said my penis made me a man but I'm clearly a woman because I say so and he used the forbidden word to refer to our great angelic people of color."
Sometimes what's new isn't what's better. Duplicating a social media platform that led to our downfall in a more secure way is still a social media platform that led to our downfall. I don't even like scored, I hate the concept of having a shared account, because you see what happened with Reddit. I really only post here, and if tomorrow it was announced it was moving to usenet and IRC, it wouldn't hurt my feelings.
