Kinda surprised by that since jeets (despite hating Muslims) also dont eat pig.
According to Wikipedia there are two different infection vectors: eating undercooked pig meat infected with tapeworm larvae, or eating food or drinking water contaminated with human shit containing tapeworm eggs. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to see how that might be an issue in India.
India does also farm some pigs, albeit far fewer than their population would suggest.
You can also get it from eating undercooked bear meat. Because the bears eat the pigs.
pork is tasty but the pig's digestive system sucks. The meat's basically like chicken but it has a lot more fans from the parasite community.
