It's actually a good movie outside of its political narrative. A few slow parts and a little peachy but the actions scenes I liked because it lacked the Hollywood "everyone stand and have a conversation before shooting" bs I hate in movies.

Butler actually tells the story of how the studio was surprised to see test audiences upset with the ending. Jamie Foxx was also upset because it was "his" movie and audiences liked Butler more and thought Foxx should have died.
Hollywood hasn't understood America for a long, long time.
I heard Foxx threw a hissy fit and that's why we got that stupid ending. Although I don't know if it is actually true.
