A prequel to The Fellowship of the Ring during the period Gandalf and Aragorn are hunting down Gollum is being made and will release in 2027. Found that out after seeing this casting, but considering they're bringing back the trilogy's cast for their roles, who knows how this will go (archive.is)

Still can't believe it's been 25 years since the original trilogy was filmed (and was filmed all at once, since Pervert Weinstein didn't believe in the movies at first, but Peter Jackson got approval to film all three movies in a row), and it's the best adaptation of a novel series of all time, but considering how long it's been since ROTK, and the fact the Scouring of the Shire never got put on the Silver Screen, idk why they're going with a prequel.

Jackson wants to put the entire Legendarium on film, but I don't that's going to happen before certain people die. Bernard Hill, who played Theoden (and Captain Smith in Titanic) and Christopher Lee, who played Saruman (and was rejected for Dumbledore due to having played Saruman) are both dead.

I don't think Sir Lee could have made a good Dumbledore. The first guy they hired for it was great.
