I think the former USSR states still hold a special enmity for the Nazis due to the betrayal and invasion of Russia in WWII, and subsequent brutal fighting that took place.
You can see this in the movie "The Best in Hell" which is a Russian war movie set in the Ukraine war. One of the Russians, is fighting to the death with a Ukrainian in close quarters, he says "My grandfather didn't take Berlin so I could surrender to you." The Ukrainian starts loosing the struggle. He manages to say "my grandfather took Berlin too", shortly before being stabbed and killed. ..man that movie was so tragic.
