It wasn't "universal democracy", it was a diplomatic forum for peaceful resolutions. The U.S. crippled it when every other nation tried to use it as intended to sanction Israhelli aggression. Now Israhelli aggression is the very reason the U.S. needs the UN ... the irony is too rich!
