Steam denied my refund request because I purchased the game more than 2 weeks ago before this went down. I hadn't installed it yet, and don't plan to now.
This is what I wrote in the refund ticket:
This developer hid their financial partnership with the culture critic Anita Sarkeesian despite knowing this would dismay and enrage the paying audience they courted. This was materially relevant to the product being sold and was a neglectful misrepresentation of the attitude of the developer itself and of the quality of the product and it's future.
Deliberately hiding the evidence of this partnership in a credit sequence deep in the game where it would not be uncovered before early adopters such as myself exited their period of trial ownership (which is generously granted by Steam, and for which I am deeply thankful), was a further choice designed to take advantage of player goodwill, and Steam's own benevolence. This is evidence of chicanery and furthers the perception of Mega Crit as a bad actor extracting money from unwilling customers.
To my knowledge, Mega Crit have offered nothing by way of explanation or apology. This leaves me with only the conclusion they are hiding behind Steam's own policy to protect their ill-gotten take before now.
I purchased this product before this relationship was uncovered. I have not installed or played this game at any point before now. I would not have purchased this product had this relationship been disclosed properly rather than hidden. I am deeply unsatisfied that my money was appropriated under false pretenses to support a party I would have never authorized had I been given the opportunity to consent.
Please take these facts into consideration despite the period of time that has transpired since the purchase date.
Regardless, I thank you for taking the time to read this.
I got the simple "this is outside of the refund window" message. Oh well.

Same thing happened to me. Supported the game since I loved the first one so much. This was such a gut punch.
