2014 was an interesting year. I watched Sarkeesian. I agreed with about 55% of what she was saying and thought 45% was just bullshit that played to her crowd. I played Depression Quest before GamerGate even happened. I gave it a 6 on Metacritic. I said "Won't change your life, but it costs $2, and it's value for money, because it definitely wasn't something I've already played before, and creativity is good."
Then I got like 900 downvotes for my review of a two dollar game, and I was like what the living fuck is happening here.
I found the original KiA. I had plenty of spirited debates. I took the stance that it was okay to critique video games; it's the same thing Roger Ebert did for movies; it's ultimately just proof that we're looking at art.
Then I found out that I was about 60% wrong. The industry didn't stop at critique. It stripped games of everything edgy; it rejected the idea of the power fantasy as wrong; it fucking erased breasts from existence.
So I had to eat some crow. Except then, to my surprise, the original GamerGaters were saying they didn't even want tits and rape and slavery in their games. They were like: "I'm too old for that. I just don't want nigger or femoid protagonists and I don't want Joos in the industry."
Which, wow, that's been quite a turn, hasn't it. I can't help but feel like no one has managed to keep their eye on the ball. Like one segment of GamerGate got shamed into total compliance, while the other segment aren't even fucking gamers, they just want to kill the Joos and they took over the community.
It's - it's worth talking about, but of course people are gonna call me a faggot for talking about it, and if you're gonna ban me for calling them a faggot back, I don't know, I don't know you. I have no information. You probably shouldn't ban me for telling people calling me a faggot that they suck cocks. But maybe you will. Let's find out.
Setting aside the politics, there is a definite culture here (as you've noticed) and you are constantly expressing your disgust for it, over several threads a week. That is textbook antagonizing behavior and part of what R2 addresses.
Yes, I've noticed. The definite culture here is that there have been eight "Crafty Jews control everything and we must exterminate them" posts a week and very little else.
Well, you're a mod. You gonna tell me that's the culture you're seeking? Was that everything you'd hoped for from KotakuInAction?
Look, if you're gonna straight-up tell me that this is a community exclusively for Jew-bashing and nothing else is welcome here, then go ahead and ban me; you're just telling me that GamerGate is over and all that's left is a handful of crazy antisemites who don't even play video games.

This kind of cartoonish thinking is really tiresome.
Gamergate has been over for a good eight years or so, btw. As if anyone cares about games journalism lol...
Then I'll tell you why I want to post here.

Well, I care about games journalism. I still watch Second Wind and Fully Ramblomatic. I'm a very big Ben Croshaw fan.
I think games matter, and I think the choices game developers make are important.
This is what KiA became? Mods who say "Who gives a flying shit about games journalism"?
Can I ask you straight-up? Do you want this to be a forum whose topic is primarily the desire for the extermination of the Jews?
