Bro uteri don't work like that. The period is when they stop being fertile, it's the time before it you're thinking of.
In any case, you were right that fertility is a limited window and there were a lot of murders. Additionally, postwar poverty is a terrible environment to try to bring a pregnancy to term in. And I'm sure there were a lot of half Slavic kids passed off as completely German.
