Apparently because there was no evidence the phone was working right in the first place; the trans activist was able to post the video from the phone right after the incident; no one ever documented or even mentioned any damage to the phone; and it wasn't until three weeks later that the trans activist even went to the Apple Store to get a new phone.
It's fucking disgraceful that there was a conviction in the first place. Does the UK just not have any rules in place that the government has to prove its case in a criminal trial?
