No, taxes should be equal for all people. All Western countries can function on tariffs and a 15% consumption tax (that includes rent and the interest rate differential between buying and selling for loans, generally around 1.5-2% of the interest you pay on loan would have a 15% consumption tax). Literally every other taxes including property tax can be eliminated. 0 subsidies or exemptions or special status for anyone. Everyone regardless of social status is taxed exactly the same. This would be the optimal tax policy.
This isn't an optimal tax policy at all and here is why.
15% on a 1M income hurts a lot less than 15% on $30,000 income. That $4,500 is a lifechanger at 30k. Earning 850k or 1M changes almost nothing.
Then again I don't believe in income taxes (or government for that matter) at all.
The issue on your proposition is that yes, it will be a 15% consumption tax. Then cities will add another 2%. Then counties another 1%. Then there will be "surtaxes" and then neighborhood and then HOA will add taxes. And then government will announce a big war and the need for money, so the 15% will "temporarily" becomes 18%.........
Then they will introduce licenses and licenses fees...................
No, you're looking at this like an egalitarian. If you only make $30k/yr then that's all you deserve. If you earn $1m/yr then that's what you deserve. Poor people aren't any more special than rich people such that rich people should subsidize poor people. If you don't want the taxes to hurt so much then earn more money. If you can't earn more money then clearly you aren't very valuable to society and should just die or stfu. Most poor people deserve what they get because they don't add very much value to society. In a lot of cases these people can blame their parents for even having them.
Just because you exist does not mean you are entitled to anyone else's resources.
All social programs need to be abolished including healthcare and education. Reduce taxes by 80%.
Eliminate taxes on the first 250k...
