Also, who brought horses to the Americas?

I love when "First Nations" mention their horse tradition, like, bitch if it weren't for the Spanish that "slaughtered" you, you wouldn't have any tradition

The natives were still walking when the Euro's showed up. We had to teach them how to use horses, because the locals never learned how to tame a horse.

Because there were no horses in America before settlers brought them over. Also tribes like the Comanche were actually by far the best horsemen in the entirety of America for quite a while. It took a stupid amount of time for the settlers to adapt and finally beat them. If I recall correctly it was Jack Hays and his Texas rangers to actually drive the Comanche back by fighting on horse back like they did. And if I'm not mistaken the second Jack Hays went away to fight against the Mexicans the Comanche were able to dominate once again because nobody bothered to learn to fight like Hays.

The worst flaw for pretty much all Indian tribes was their inability to adapt. That is the primary reason why they got swept away by the settlers. Also the fact that the settlers never stopped coming. Don't make the mistake thinking that the Indian tribes were all a bunch of incompetent retards. Many of them were extremely capable warriors.

To be fair, the best braves were killed in a generational guerilla war. The sick, cowardly, and alcoholics survived and welcomed in dysfunctional genes from European outcasts. It's dysgenic in the way that British teeth are from the Romans removing the people with good teeth from the local breeding pool because good teeth means good bones means good slaves for quarries and export.

I'm sure there were a couple hundred years of some scary fucking tribes.

Yes but that wasn't the problem. The 'best braves' were generally just warriors. Not necessarily intelligent outside of killing people. Just look at the tribes today. Some managed to adapt and used the privileges they've gotten from the US government to become incredibly wealthy and prosperous. And then you have the rest who decided to use the handout money to be drunk 24/7. The Indian tribes are as diverse as the European people. You can't throw them all in the same basket.

Being able to adapt and being able to adapt quickly is not a standard skill for humans. The majority of settlers didn't manage to adapt (quickly) either but unlike Native Americans they had the technological and numerical advantage. The history of the Comanche is the best example of that. They were absolutely dominant and if they would have understood what was at stake and actually build a nation instead of only being nomadic raiders who knows what could have happened. But they didn't and the second the settlers started to adapt to their fighting tactics it was over for them.

The last chief of the Comanche actually adapted to the new reality of life after the defeat of the Comanche and was very successful because of it. Empire of the Summer Moon is a great book that goes into detail about that.
