Democracy is being held hostage in Alberta.
Duty to consult? How many FN and Métis were consulted about bringing forth these proceedings to begin with? And what do they need to consult about? Any constitutional lawyer can address all concerns they feel they have. This is supposed to be a democratic process and everyone gets a vote regardless of colour, culture, beliefs or ideologies.
Consultations’ are literally occurring daily via town halls across the province and every Albertan is welcome to attend.
This ruling is nonsensical, as Eva points out, and this is a slap in the face to all Stay Free Alberta canvassers who’ve braved the elements, faced harassment and threats, and long days on their own time collecting signatures under the illusion we are still a democratic society.
