There are Iranians who could pass for northern European; others who are ethnically Central Asian Turk (think east Asian eyes, etc.); many who are Arab; some who are more sub-continental Dravidian; many who are of the Mediterannean types, etc. The majority of the population is substantially more caucasoid than you would find in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, etc.

The original Iranian/Persian people came form north of the Black Sea and conquered throughout Central Asia and into India. Today, Iran is a heavily mixed country.

Ashkenazi Jews are basically hybridized Middle Eastern Semitic types and Northern Europeans. Askhenazi do seem to tilt substantially more towards higher intelligence than in comparison to Sephardic jews.
