The H1Bs are supposed to be paid prevailing wages.

I heard a tech worker allege he was seeing companies offer much lower wages in the initial job posting for Americans. Then when nobody will take 50 cents on the dollar they claim they couldn't fill the job with American labor and bring in the H1B who will be paid the wage the job actually commands.
