That's 100% fact. Taking slaves & hostages IS specifically ordained in the Koran. As is raping enemy women. Taking the young children (infants) & raising them as your own is also allowed, iirc.

Hostage taking was fairly common in Europe too. They'd just get ransom money for their release though, not turned into slaves.
