You're right, but the fact that you can screen and select embryos is a significant departure from traditional family formation. If IVF ever became mainstream (which is prevented due to the success rate, but I digress) then the effects would be similar to abortion, except at a larger scale, and there probably would be knock-on social consequences that we couldn't predict.
