They want vendor lock in on the tool chain. If customers use a model agnostic tool, they could switch backend providers the instant a better option goes on the market.
The funny part is if any of these coding tools ever lived up to the hype, then any kind of technical lockout would be useless because everyone would be a god tier coder. So they'll have to make sure the tools don't work.
Claude used to be my go-to AI but changed completely a few weeks ago. It's pure trash now. ChatGPT has better analysis, Gemini is better at conversation and even DeepSeek is better at coding.
