I thought the new movie was great. He's a runt in the family which explains the derpy looks.
Runt implies small, he looks nothing like a predator we know...deformed is a better more accurate description...
For all we know, their foreheads dont grow in til they hit a certain age. I can agree the design is worse but at least the movie includes a pretex for it.
