My whole job is taking care of a bunch of old people that nobody cares about anymore. The government, the taxpayer, pays their benefits and they sit in hospital or nursing homes forever.
I'm not advocating euthanasia but I am pointing out that our system is buckling under the weight of this. Roughly 25% of your taxes go straight to paying old timers.
These are people that in former times would have been looked after by their children (who could also hire maids with inherited money) or if they had none due to infertility would have hired their own maids. As usual, the old way of doing things worked much better.
People had time for that before. Women also had time to look after the kids. And like I said you can also hire maids, especially if your parents are paying or will compensate you when they die.
