Everyone wants to do the minimal work required. Except, of course in the few cases where the minimal work is way more expensive. I worked at a company that did repairs for industrial systems, and the easiest thing to do was send it to us to repair the system and we’d ship it back. The only thing leaving their pocket was money and they got a fully functioning model back. Too many idiots would try to tear into their equipment to fix it themselves because they were scared of the repair cost only to ding up the one part that would total the machines and ended up paying double or triple for a new piece of equipment.
