The people at the highest levels of state government don't care and hope some other horrible thing happens in the streets so they can campaign on it. There's nothing strange about it.

What they want you to do is grant the federal government new and sweeping powers to "put down" rebellions. Does anyone not find it strange that this isn't called out? This is where I feel the crazy pills actually are.
