While that's always a good sign, and I've used that argument myself for sure, I agree with AoV; it's not always good enough. There are people who piss the right people off, who are absolute monsters. That's not Asmon, to be clear, but just an example.
For me, pissing the right people off should be a secondary bonus, not the core argument. You do good work and piss the right people off? Awesome. And, to some extent, that is Asmon. But, as some people have pointed out, he also has some big failings. I don't hate the dude - I actually think he's pretty likeable - but he's definitely got some issues.
