Fauci and the federally-funded NIH that he led, which moved its gain-of-function research to China after Obama banned it in the US (one of the very few good things he did), along with the full support of the democrats, deep state and pharmaceutical companies, while Trump was a schmuck flailing in his attempt to face a situation he didn't expect, while relying on, and being counselled by, the same vipers who had ushered the situation in the first place.
He hasn’t learned his lesson. By now it’s 100% obvious that he is not who we thought he was.
But about Obama doing a “good thing” by banning gain-of-function research in the US: use your brain. He did it so that it would be out of the reach of US regulations and rules. You really think the US just abandoned that “research?” Of course they didn’t. They moved it to China.

Duh. I just told you that.
But I disagree with you. By not having this research conducted in our backyard, we have the distinct advantage of not being the first ones in the line of fire once their modified viruses inevitably get out of containment and start affecting the population. Reducing the impacts of an outbreak on our own people is a great benefit. In the Wu flu's case, it meant that the most virulent version of the virus did not hit us. Taiwan was warning about an outbreak of a highly potent flu virus in China in November of 2019, and it took at least until February of 2020 until it reached North American shores in a significant capacity. That was months of buffer, during which the virus evolved and became less lethal. I am glad that this did not happen here.

We'll see if Trump has learned his lesson.

Obama only has GOF research so there was notice and cover to move it to China, with less oversight.
All part of they plan
