Empires seem to deploy their powers to the maximum, desisting only when they no longer have the wherewithal. We may soon be reminded that it was American decline that put Mr. Trump in a position to set American foreign policy in the first place.

I'm conflicted... at least there will be a silver lining. Worst case scenario for me is if they give Greenland away because they're pathetic bleating sheep.
True. I was about to say 'with a garrison', but then I remembered that the US has armed forces stationed in basically every country.
If rumors are to be believed, then the new Venezuelan president is their guy and willing to serve their interests. Now I wonder if she's biding her time (the military buildup near Venezuela is not sustainable in the long run), because in my limited imagination, it's hard to believe that she'll just do whatever America says for the heck of it.
"Machado was part of Yale University's Yale World Fellows program in 2009. She was also part of Young Global Leaders in 2005, and again in 2011."
She's not a Venezuelan patriot, she's a globalist, with a master's in finance to boot. And here she is meeting President Bush in 2005
If working with America gets her what she wants, she'll play ball.
Oh, I meant Maduro's vice-president, who is also a woman (sorry Imp). She also seems to be playing game. But who knows? Things are not always what they seem. And even puppets who are installed, when their position is strengthened, are much less interested in serving their patrons than when the patrons' help was more needed.
Did we get any conspiracy theories about how Ivanka got Trump to do this to get a member of the Nazi gender into power?
Oh, yeah, she's a woman too. When you said "she" I assumed Machado.
Yeah, considering VP lady was condemning the US and demanding Maduro back, I don't really see that relationship being that solid, that's true.
Surprisingly, I don't think so. He kind of dropped the focus on specific women, it seems, and more talked about vague "natalist" powers puppeteering Trump, without elaborating.
I mean, obviously she has to do that. Behind the scenes, she may play ball. Or she may do so as long as the ships are there and Venezuela is being threatened. Or I may be completely wrong and she'll be a loyal servant of American interests - who even knows?
I did notice that he has been screaming about 'natalists' a lot much more than previous incarnations. Then he only claimed that the Roman Empire and the communist Romanian state fell because of a bachelor tax.
How can anyone not love such a great comedian?
