Yup. I still hate it, personally, and think it's evil. But, if true, at least it's limited and contained evil. It wasn't our business in the first place, but if this really is in-and-out, at least we might avoid a larger conflict, which was my primary concern.
Similar to the Iran strikes, I totally condemn it...but am also relieved it hasn't as of yet escalated.
Hopefully we're not jumping the gun, and this really is the end of it.
For the sake of the people there, hopefully any transfer of power is smooth and painless, and the US doesn't feel the need to be further involved. Can we please just fuck off?
Capturing Maduro is not even close to conquering the entire country. Even ignoring the diplomatic fallout of actually conquering land instead of creating puppet states in modern politics, if the emptied armories are true it's probably not worth the heat right now.
The likelihood of a properly hot civil war there is higher than ever now. Let them shoot each other until they're low on bullets/people or sell off their arms on the black market before even considering that.
Hell if no clear government arises out of that ensuing chaos, if the US gov offered to buy those weapons at 10x black market value, a bit of stable infrastructure and bureaucracy, and some military "protection" against the remaining armed insurgents. Then they might be able to effectively buy the remains of the country for a fraction of the cost of an actual invasion.
So from even the anti Trump news, they're reporting Maduro and his wife have been captured and in transport to US, ZERO US casualties.
...probably the best outcome for us, the WORST outcome for everyone trying to get the US stuck for years in a pointless war.

Claim it as US territory. Holds off China, cartels, illegals and drugs. increases our oil reserves.

Solid. I like your approach.
