I'm seeing all the round ups of 2025 happening right now so thought I'd ask what people make of it as it's been chaotic to say the least.
In my opinion, the left have lost the culture war, have greatly lost the economic dominance they once had as seen by media companies collapsing and their last hold out of the establishment is diminishing greatly. The only problem is they KNOW they are losing so are going scorched earth with the remaining tools they have like the judiciary in the US or the indoctrinated crazies they have like the troons.
But that ACTUALLY seems to be the side show. The growing fight seems to be between Gen Z and some millennials vs the boomers as a huge generation divide seems to have reach it's peak with even 'Gen Z coups' happening in multiple countries, the most dramatic of which is Nepal. From what I can gather, Gen Z seems to have had enough of Boomers sitting on their hands, saying everything will work out and they should just do what they did when they were that age and Gen Z would rather burn the system down they feel has no interest in them.
The rise in internet censorship by western governments seem to be the last acts of old institutions realising the younger generation has grown to hate them and are hoping to deny them the few communities they have to indoctrinate them again, not realising that ship has sailed. 2026 is going to be interesting as we may see another shift thanks this divide being more prominent.
You are not wrong. People have learned that the good times aren't coming by sitting around. The deck must be shuffled. The boomers were such a massive group that they always had political sway. They were in power in the 90s. The 00s. The 2010s. And still are in power now halfway through the 2020s. A twenty year generation had a stranglehold on power for four decades. They did not hand the reins to the next generation like every generation that came before them. Boomers are living in 4000 sqft homes as empty nesters while their millennial kids and their small children are crammed into apartments. And they don't care. The boomers are determined to spend every last penny they have on cruises and vacations and new cars rather than help their progeny. And when the boomers get too old to go on trips, they'll exhaust whatever funds they have left unnaturally prolonging their life with surgeries and medications.
And the youth figured this out. They realized boomers have no intent of paying it forward. Boomers inherited a 90% white nation and passed on a 60% white nation. They inherited 90% white cities and passed on 40% white cities. They inherited low taxes and passed on high taxes. They inherited a booming economy where a highschool dropout could afford a house in the suburbs. They passed on a dying economy where people with maters degrees and dual income households are still renting. They inherited freedom and passed on slavery. They were giving opportunity and used that opportunity to pull the ladder up. Their predecessors retired and passed on the torch and the wealth. They cling to positions of wealth (won't retire) guaranteeing no one else can move up the ranks.
Fuck boomers.
Boomers weren't old enough to vote yet when the Hart-Caller act ruined our immigration system and opened the floodgates. Remember, this happened a few years before the constitutional amendment that lowered the voting age. They didn't do anything to fix it later, but it was their "greatest" generation parents who opened the borders.
Gen x are the most conservative living generation.
early millenial here. sort of grew up in the worldview of "a society grows as long as men plant trees in whose shade they'll never sit". on my own - parents always busy, dumped me at grandma's any chance they had. even had her relocate to "be closer to the grandkids". thought they were planting those trees lol.
only now that i have kids of my own I realized the cavalry wasnt coming. took me a while.
the damage boomers have done to our social fabric is immeasurable. everyone on my parents' gen x cohort sort of "went along with the times" thinking the parents knew best, and now its up to millennials and Zs to clean up the mess...
