Stranger Things, based on the social media buzz around one of the characters receiving his "sorcerer" powers because he came out as gay in the '80s.

Edit: Nevermind, it's a Warlock who sells his soul to a demon for magic powers. Close enough.
In D&D, it's widely accepted that Sorcerers often (especially as a plot device) tend to have links to some sort of magical being like having Dragon ancestry. A Sorcerer being the distant offspring of a demon and human would suffice.
