Ironically enough, the EU did it better with both Leia and how she was trained while maintaining her politics, and fan favourite Mara Jade. It was already done. Fans already liked these ideas. The only ones who didn't were the executives like Rian and those at Disney.
Exactly. Jaina Solo is probably my favorite character and the EU was moving in the direction of having her be the main focus when Disney took over. I was totally ok with that. There was a trilogy in the works that was cancelled. I was like Disney you can’t at least give the EU fans that trilogy? You are that petty?
