Because the kikes that own Disney would have had to pay royalties to the collective authors who created the EU storylines and characters.

This is the real reason.
That's part of it but the main reason is so they could destroy and remake it, get rid of all the old characters and insert their own narratives.
They had money to get the rights easily if they really wanted, unless some of the authors were incredibly stubborn.
I get that but they could’ve continued EU stories in a separate continuity from their canon stuff. They already rerelease EU content
