Except I really wasn't. "When 30-year started" is not an exact date, and 30- and 25- and other long mortgages existed before then. They weren't typical or government backed, but they existed.
This was intentionally nebulous because you're not supposed to fixate on a number, but the idea that if you live longer you can borrow for longer. You only care about this number because you think you can save face quibbling over details, when all it shows is you're too dumb to understand the concept.
