Considering the Early Life of a lot of those Communists (and Social Democrats) I'd say it had a lot to do with the war.
So Rosa Luxembourg being Jewish and getting killed in 1919 is what made Hitler invade Poland in 1939?

There's no O in her surname. And the overrepresentation of jews in subversive communist movements was one of Hitler's talking points that the German people overwhelmingly agreed with (factually true).
