There doesn't seem to be anything new and exciting going on these days.
No fads taking everyone by storm. No new technology everyone is discussing (AI is pretty meh at the moment, especially with the censorship). No new entertainment everyone has to see.
Maybe I'm out of the loop but I don't feel I am. Anyone else kinda feel this way?
Culture died during the late 90s and early 00s. Everything has been a fake and gay retread since. There have been several YouTubers and historians pointing this out. We have been in a bubble with no changes (aside from the fake, gay and demonic) for decades.
You could argue we've been living in a Lost Decade since 2008, maybe several.
Some people will soyjak-point to GDP and the stock market reaching All-Time Highs™ as proof that everything's hunky-dory, but it sure doesn't feel like it. There's no hope or optimism, only cynicism and nostalgia. It's like the Japanese with high school settings or isekai: everyone's retreating into the past and scared of the future.
What room is there for hope when our race is undergoing a slow genocide via immigration and our more fulfilling social interactions come from arguing on forums with people who might not even be real?
Hope springs eternal. When your gaze is turned inwards upon the artificial world of machines, you may miss every opportunity to seize hope.
Bullshit, I'm sick of this evil optimistic world view that blames men like me for not being given the opportunities and abilities I need.
