Urban Germans were the same. Nobody in Germany wanted 'democracy' except for the the Social Democrats and Communists. And the Communists were immediately stabbed in the back by the Social Democrats after they took power just like the Social Democrats stabbed the Kaiser and the entirety of Germany in the back. That very party still exists today. It's the SPD.

But yes as you said Hitler was only able to do it because the democratic system in Germany was somewhat functional during that time because Germany hadn't been subjugated to 80 years of 24/7 forced 're-education' and propaganda yet.

But I guarantee you if the propaganda systems get dismantled most people will change as most people are NPCs who believe whatever the mainstream tells them. Talk to an average mainstream Joe anywhere and you'll hear them repeat the talking points of whatever mainstream media they're consuming without having wasted a single second on thinking about it.
