It really clicked with me when I saw the latest Indiana Jones video game.
I saw people playing the first chapter in the Vatican with the pastor as your buddy and was along the lines of 'Huh, basic, a little fanservice-y, might be cool'.
...then I saw reviews showcasing the rest of the goddamn game. And it made me seriously wonder if they did the first chapter as a trojan horse to try and force the rest of it on gamers.
Of course there's not much wokeness initially. They have to make sure the bulk of their heavy-handed propaganda lies outside your refund window.
The "patriarchal husband" bullshit happens like 5 minutes into the game (unless the player doesn't bother reading new journal entries)
