You can get a traffic violation even if you do nothing wrong, I'm currently facing a traffic misdemeanor right now and even though there's actual video evidence proving I'm innocent the DA is refusing to drop the charges and is instead demanding I accept a plea deal. Plenty of people in my situation, guilty or not, would take the deal, hell I was tempted to take it, just to get this annoyance to end.
