Here, we have the father of Aztec Batman giving the Spanish colonist a moral lesson, saying, “Does your God allow the murder of women and children?” https://i.imgur.com/UOSEvp6.jpeg
I should point out that Batman's father here is the village chief, and in order to climb the social ladder in Aztec society, it was necessary to sacrifice slaves and children, either by ripping out their hearts while they were still alive, by burning them alive, or by drowning them.
In Aztec culture, children were offered as sacrifices to Tlaloc, the god of rain.
It was believed that their cries fed the clouds and brought abundant harvests.
The indigenous people mistreated by the Aztecs were so relieved that the conquistadors came to kill the Aztecs that they joined them with joy and some of them even gave their DAUGHTERS in marriage to the Spaniards.
Its amazing how little history they know that of all the Mesoamerican tribes and people's they could use to get 50% of what they want out of this idea (the look, the art, the violence) they pick the one that literally has no redeeming qualities or moral ground to stand on.
The Olmecs are right there, and despite being centuries apart contain a bunch of the same cultural traits that the Aztecs do that would get you most of the same stuff without any of the historical hate.
But that would also remove the "white man bad" angle as they went extinct sometime in the 300~ BC times, and we all know that is the other half the reason they picked this to begin with.
It's fascinating that they are demonizing white people using the white, Christian morality introduced by the colonizers.
One wonders whether they truly believe in that moral paradigm. Or perhaps they secretly want to rip some hearts out again?
Its because deep down that lack the ability to understand things outside themselves. To them its not "white, Christian morality" its just basic "kindness" and Whitey is just trying to steal credit for it. You can see this in not only their politics and the words they use for it, but in all their art.
Lovecraft is a great example, because the very idea is something unknowable and outside human comprehension. To them, its just tentacles and "existentialism so scary."
And in this case, the Aztecs weren't brutally evil assholes everyone hated but simply different and misunderstood and those monstrous Spaniards made them look eviler than they were. Probably also something something whitey wrote the history book and its all lies.
