They're not thinking. They're feeling. And they're demons.
I will give you that. It's a special type of cult tactic. They came in with various illegal or looked down upon things. The left helped them get stuff, but for a price, and constantly being told it can end at any second by the evil people on the right.
Michael Crichton's State of Fear shows that they must constantly being scared, or the power will go away. So the power is going away and the left is amping up the fear to try to regain power.
The demons reward them with dopamine for doing their bidding.
