This is one of the most bastardized phrases used by churchians and one of the most egregiously stupid. Every time they use the phrase it’s not for its actual meaning it’s to pretend you must enable sin because people do it. To churchians false kindness and kumbayah singing is “love”, this modern insane definition is the equivalent of helping a junky OD and calling it “love”.
Love is not cruel or kind, love is doing what’s best for someone. If you love someone they might scorn you for it, but that’s the cost of it. Enabling the sinner is not love, it is sin.
Love the sinner not the sin: This is true in the same way "Free Love" in 1 cor is true.
Never compromise on morals. But loving a sinner can be allowing them to face the earthly consequences of their sins while you preach the gospel to them. Like Kirk did a lot, our motivations, our meaning, our mentality can all be traced back to good vs evil, the Bible. So speak the truth, and be very discerning who you help and are generous towards. In doing so, you pray that they repent to Jesus before their soul is lost forever.
How do you know if they repent? Repentance involves real change. Nobody who recognizes the full debt of their sin keeps living in sin.
Ideally we have a justice system that actually punishes evil
