It just seems like everyone hates them. They are so repugnant that they eclipsed black and Mexicans in a week. Truly something special

They didn't even consider them as people for representative purposes despite them being subjugated and living under the governance of whites.

They were counted as 3/5 of a person. See Article 1, Section 2, Clause 3. Also note that Indians (feather) who were not subject to taxation were also not counted.
