Yup, Canada's governments have a pretty poor track record.
They also exterminated the "Metis Pony" a lovely little horse that was sturdy, smart and gentle as a kitten. Less than 10 remain & most are 50-50 :/
Natives across North America had dog breeds too, but they are all extinct now. Not by deliberate actions but because European breeds simply out-performed them.
