Sure, it goes both ways. When two sides are in an armed conflict I'm going to be skeptical about claims of morally outrageous behavior because the people involved in said conflict have a vested interest in shaping the perception of that conflict. If you're the scrappy underdog being wronged then certain countries will feel sympathy and supply you with resources or try to exert diplomatic pressure against your enemy. It's all just wartime strategy.
So yeah, inclined to be skeptical of everything out of there until the dust settles or there are a sufficiently large number of independent data sources from which to triangulate a rough approximation of the truth.
