37% of their doctors are foreign born. That obviously doesn't include first gen arabs and indians who happened to be born in the UK (who are still arabs and indians and will never be otherwise).
The term ‘overseas doctors’ is applied to those who have graduated outside the UK, and embraces two groups: international medical graduates (IMG) and European Economic Area (EEA) graduates.3 In 1957, overseas doctors represented about 12% of the total medical workforce, the majority having migrated from Europe during or after World War II.4 The proportion has increased gradually. Recent data indicate non-UK graduates comprise 37% of the total number of doctors: 26% are IMGs and 11% from EEA.5
Yeah, I had a walkin indian doctor who didnt quite know what he was talking about.
"What do you mean there are two forms of vitamin d?"
"I cant refer you to a nephrologist, your basic urine panel is fine!"
Some real questionable shit.
But it was leagues better over the gay canadian white doctor who literally lied about medication I was never given and then also swapped my blood pressure readings around to make it look like my blood pressure was ok. LMAO.
Dude was a literal psychopaths working with wcb to deny claims. He did it so easily with me I guarantee hes done it to others as well.
I think thats what all doctors who go through medical school in canada become like it seems.
This is probably what America is going to look like in a decade or so. The government halved the cap on grad school loans and fewer people can afford the med school. The squeeze won't be felt right away since it takes several years for someone to become a doctor, which means it'll also take several years before any decision reversing will bring it to normal. So the knee-jerk option will be to import a bunch of (cheap) foreign doctors, likely from India to meet demands.
Rural hospital closures have increased over the past twenty years. Since 2010, 136 rural hospitals have shut their doors with 37 ceasing operations since 2020 alone. Closures have left 10% of the rural population without access to an acute care hospital. An additional 600 hospitals in rural America are at risk of closing their doors in the future.
And the government really has the fucking balls to raise the retirement limit because they say were "living longer"
