As much as I may not like the police as an institution from a political philosophical perspective; I will never deny that cops are permanently scarred by the shit that they see on the street.

Those kinds of professions will BREAK YOU seeing what people are capable of. It's why if you're looking to be less scarred in life, you're better off becoming a funeral director than anything like police or EMT.
People talk about the great need for social workers, yet most remain ignorant that one of the biggest reasons there aren't very many is they invariably burn out before long, having to listen to many of the worst stories which exist in our society.

Yeah, you're right about that one too. Vets love animals more than what anyone is willing to put up with or imagine the brutality involving them.
