I’m not familiar with Zelda since I didn’t have a Nintendo but I do think it’s sad that normal common sense casting has to be applauded. Honestly nowadays I’m surprised when they cast as you would expect.
It's only a problem with established white-skinned characters, which the left views as blank slates ripe for updating.
