AFAICT, The Book of Eli was an original script.
It seems like a post-apocalyptical world that starts in the middle and leaves out a lot of lore.
But the movie doesn't seem to be based on any source material at all.
I don't mean this film, did a quick check and couldn't find any referenced original work in the wiki article, but his other work has been discussed here at times being raceswapping.
