The FBI destroyed or altered all of the incriminating files years ago. If anything is left its probably a paper hardcopy kept in Hillary's bathroom or something. Bondi and Patel were never going to find anything.
Here's the thing. I could have potentially believed (but still been skeptical of) that excuse if they immediately went with that from the outset. Instead we got "the list is on my desk" and "there are 10s of thousands of hours of video of children being abused." They've long missed their chance to credibly claim that all the evidence had been destroyed before they got in.
Hell, Kash and Bongino are both trying to assert he killed himself. That is not a "they destroyed the evidence before we could see it" issue. That is a "they are deeply compromised" issue. Or being blackmailed. Functionally the same.
Agree that all 3 of them have thoroughly destroyed their credibility. It was almost as if, by saying they had all the evidence, they were hoping someone magically dropped it on their desk.
While its possible they are compromised, the deep state put up a hell of a fight to keep them out. I think they are just incompetent, fixated bulldogs who walked into a viper's den of snakes far more intelligent then they are.
This is by far the worst black mark on the Trump administration.
Did the deep state really put up much of a fight to keep them out? Hegseth is really the only one I would say a big fight was put up over. Multiple instances where they tried to sink him with contrived scandals, both before and after his confirmation.
The deep state desperately did not want Gaetz and they got their wish there. Bondi I don't recall any significant opposition aside from democrat partisan stuff.
The lack of power was obvious when Chris Wray made an obvious call to assassinate Trump, and nothing at all happened to him.
There will be no arrests, no files, and not only does the government bureaucracy want you to know that, they will rub your face in it.
I've said this before, but it needs to be crystal clear: No FBI reform is possible without firing everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, above the rank of ASAIC, Assistant Special Agent in Charge. If you cannot fire them, build a giant building on some island in the Pacific and move all of them there, and the only way they can leave is to resign. Adak, Alaska is a good candidate for this. Port and airfield already built, just needs repairs.
Personnel is policy, and you cannot change policy without changing personnel.
It's almost impossible to do that. It's not as if the agency doesn't do backups. The data is around. You can never assume you're in a position where you don't actively have to guard it. Destroying the data makes you vulnerable.
Which is why information flows and even project names are so tightly controlled. You can route the information to the wrong department. You can mislabel it. You can attach improper security labels to it. You can make the files inaccessible other than to the director.
No sane agency destroys anything. See: The Kennedy Assassination.

Yeah. I have no idea what they were thinking with that. Some people just need to stay off fucking twitter.
